Curiouser and curiouser....
What drives me as a therapist? Why I love my vocation...
Clients often wonder how I do my work, and usually exclaim they would never be able to sit in my chair, so to speak.
I cannot imagine doing any other job, and honestly I find each and every person I meet to be a unique engagement, like no other.
Because people are unique, every one of us comes with completely different pasts and presents. So no two people are the same.
What I love is being curious, if I wasn't a therapist I would be very nosy! I am interested in how people have travelled to where they are now, and how their journey shapes who they are.
emotional
Often people wonder how therapists can handle all the emotion brought up in the work. Many consider if they would be able to hear distressing stories and internal worlds that can seem nightmarish. I cannot speak for other therapists, but for me, I have heard so many experiences that I feel very comfortable with what some may fear shocking to others. Although we are human, most therapists are able to have distance from emotional content that protects them from feeling .
work with me
When working with me, I am interested in what you want to be different, what and who has made you who you are, and how we can create together ideas of using this understanding to achieve your full potential. Come and be curious with me!
curiosity about others
I invite you to be more curious about other people, and see how asking helpful questions might enhance your relationships and feeling useful when others are in need of a listening ear.
